Molly Smith Morales, MSW, CSWA is a behavioral and mental health therapist with Women's Healthcare Associates in Oregon City, Oregon.
“I believe authentic and meaningful human connection is key to healing trauma and growing healthy families—which is why strengthening relationships and building community support with patients is such a big priority for me. I strive to be a safe place where people feel that secure connection as a foundation for healing and growth.”
Driven by a deep and varied job and personal history, Molly’s eventual choice of career was inspired by her experience with Parents Anonymous. There, she saw the lack of support and shame that can come with parenthood—particularly for pregnant people and new parents—oftentimes exacerbated by past trauma, substance use, racism, oppression and other social issues. Her passion for connecting with people, supporting the growth of healthy families and women’s equity led her toward perinatal mental health. In her practice, Molly’s compassionate and open-minded approach is strength-based and trauma-informed. She has a special interest in helping people experiencing substance use issues and those with a history of or difficulty building trusting relationships.
Molly currently serves on the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee of Baby Blues Connection, a local non-profit dedicated to helping people experiencing pregnancy and postpartum depression and anxiety. She recognizes the disparities facing Black women and women of color and works hard to understand the injustice they’ve experienced in the healthcare system as part of recognizing her own privilege. Outside of work, she spends time at kids’ sporting events and enjoys horseback riding.
