Megan Lewis, CNM, is a certified nurse-midwife at Women's Healthcare Associates in Portland, Oregon.
"One of my favorite things about being a midwife is helping someone make positive changes in their health to improve their life, or uncover strength they didn’t know they had. Even when things don’t go according to plan, my goal is to be there for each person and do what I can to make them feel heard and empowered."
Megan can trace the origins of her career to a lifelong interest in both life science and social science. A fascination with maternal-infant health and the medical culture of birth led her to become a doula and she quickly realized nurse-midwifery was her calling. Today, Megan's approach is centered on fostering a partnership with her patients where she provides the information, guidance and support each person needs to make their own decisions. In addition to providing trauma-informed care throughout pregnancy and childbirth, she provides a range of gynecologic and preventative care, helping her patients address issues such as pelvic pain, pelvic floor disorders, sexual dysfunction, contraception and menstrual concerns. She sees people of all ages, including folks who identify as LGBTQ+—and particularly appreciates the opportunity to care for teens and young adults during their first reproductive health visit and helping them have a comfortable and positive experience.
When she’s not caring for patients, Megan loves spending time with her dog, Moose, and participating in canine nosework competitions together. She also enjoys hiking, skiing, camping and making pottery.
