Katie Weyer, MD, is an OB/GYN physician and surgeon at Women's Healthcare Associates in Oregon City, Oregon.
"When I left teaching high school to pursue a medical career, I worked as a medical assistant in an OB/GYN clinic caring for some of the same young women. This experience made me realize the importance of education outside the classroom and the powerful role medicine can play in opening doors for women on the brink of marginalization. What I am reminded of and grateful for every day in my practice is how much I am able to learn from my patients."
In addition to her focus on education and empowerment, Dr. Weyer’s practice is also been influenced by her childhood experience with the healthcare system, where she learned the significance of making human connections and communicating effectively and compassionately not only with patients, but their loved ones, as well. She enjoys all aspects of caring for women, but particularly obstetrics, family planning and adolescent health.
In her spare time, Dr. Weyer loves taking road trips to explore new and old destinations and spending time outdoors—hiking, running, doing yoga, skiing and camping. She also cherishes the time she gets to spend with her friends and family, especially her nieces and nephews.
