Provider Bio

Erica Koltenuk, CNM is a certified nurse-midwife at Women's Healthcare Associates in Newberg, Oregon.

From the Provider

“Giving birth is something that happens maybe once or twice for most people. Every birth is unique and sacred, and I am so lucky to work with birthing parents and families in that moment. Maybe things don’t go as we hope or plan, but there is empowerment in being able to adapt to what reality presents when you feel like you have been heard and have choice. Being there in that moment, helping people understand what’s happening and then watching them become parents and seeing the babies—is incredibly inspiring and satisfying. I love my job!”

About the Provider

Fascinated by pregnancy and birth from a young age, Erica’s “ah-ha” career moment came when she learned about the profession of nurse-midwifery after graduating with a degree in art and taking time off to travel and explore. Encouraged to pursue this path sooner rather than later, she returned to nursing school and spent time as a labor and delivery nurse on her path to becoming a certified nurse-midwife. In her practice, Erica’s guiding principle is patient autonomy. She seeks to build trust with each person as the foundation of an open exchange of information and conversation about the best path forward. In addition to caring for people during pregnancy and childbirth, Erica really enjoys wellness care and helping people work toward their health goals across the lifespan—including through the transition to menopause. She also enjoys contraception, especially working with teens and young adults—and takes a holistic, collaborative approach to helping patients of all ages prevent and heal chronic reproductive health conditions.

Erica and her partner have three children. A former wilderness educator and white water guide, she enjoys all types of outdoor pursuits with her family, and loves weight training and running.
