Starting November 2nd, 2016, WHA is partnering with distribution company Gathr to offer four opportunities to see the documentary film Embrace at theaters in the metro area. Embrace was made by Australian photographer Taryn Brumfitt. The film—and her larger Body Image Movement—seek to recognize the importance of body diversity by encouraging people to be more accepting of who they are, to use positive language regarding their bodies and others, and to prioritize health before beauty.

“One of our most important jobs is raising strong, confident girls,” said physician and Chief Medical Officer Marni Carlyle, MD. “Girls who see their bodies as vehicles for accomplishing dreams, who make positive choices related to their lives and health, and who are equipped to influence or raise the next generation of strong, confident girls and boys. That starts with being aware of our own feelings, perceptions, language and actions.”

Please join us at one of the screenings below. If you have questions about whether the film is suitable for the young people in your life, check out the parent’s guide here. See you at the movies!
