Hannah Rhinehart, CNM, is a board-certified nurse-midwife with Women's Healthcare Associates in Oregon City, Oregon.
“I grew up in a conservative environment where reproductive health—including birth control—wasn’t discussed and there was a lot of shame associated with topics like sex and pleasure. That experience fuels my passion to make sure every person has real information, the opportunity to make informed, empowered choices and access to the full spectrum of quality reproductive health care.”
The magic of witnessing labor for the first time as a volunteer in Nicaragua put Hannah on a course toward nurse-midwifery and she is still in awe of the energy surrounding birth and the honor of catching babies today. Her goal is making sure every person has a positive experience in her care, regardless of the circumstance. Whether that is someone’s first gynecology visit or a birth plan that has veered in a different direction, Hannah appreciates being able to protect the autonomy of each individual and provide the knowledge, care and compassion they need to feel reassured in that moment—and hopefully leave with a different perspective on what empowering healthcare can and should feel like. She provides wellness, gynecology and pregnancy care to people of all ages through a trauma-informed lens using a shared decision-making approach. Hannah particularly appreciates being able to care for adolescents and support people through physiologic birth.
With four children, much of Hannah’s spare time revolves around kiddos and family, but she also enjoys reading, barre and exploring local walking paths and trails.
