Here’s how to talk to your doctor about your sex life
Who wants to do something they don’t enjoy? Especially when it comes…
Kendra Elliottgreen, CNM, DNP, is a certified nurse-midwife with Women's Healthcare Associates in Portland, Oregon.
“Focusing on things that empower people to live fuller, healthier and more joyful lives is near and dear to my heart. Things like reproductive health education and autonomy, sexual health and satisfaction, postpartum mental health, pelvic floor disorders and menopausal care—where having the right information and support can make a huge difference in a person’s quality of life.”
The midwifery care and support Kendra received during and after her own pregnancy was pivotal in her decision to pursue midwifery after finishing her military service obligation. Through that experience, she recognized that pregnant people can sometimes feel ‘left behind’ when medical complications arise during pregnancy, and she wanted to provide the type of care and emotional support that she received. Familiar with the care of midwives from her childhood in a large family, she decided to pursue nurse-midwifery so she could provide this type of care where most people are able to access it—in the hospital. In addition to caring for people during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum, Kendra likes helping them navigate decisions around abortion and contraception. She also enjoys adolescent and menopause care and helping people of all ages through issues related to their sexual health and satisfaction.
The parent of a young child, much of Kendra’s spare time is devoted to kid activities and school volunteering. She has also worked as a pediatric home health nurse for medically fragile children and enjoys yoga, reading, hiking and trips to the beach with her family.
