Misra Cohen-MacGill, CNM, MN is a certified-nurse midwife at Women's Healthcare Associates in Oregon City, Oregon.
“My first exposure to midwifery was as a high school senior working at a birth center in Bali, Indonesia. That experience taught me what a non-medicalized birth could look like. I learned that women are amazingly strong, resilient and powerful and that I wanted to pursue birth work as a career.”
Misra’s focus on blending traditional and Western medicine was influenced by her experience in Indonesia, as well as working with her mother, a nutrition therapist and integrative healer. She chose nurse-midwifery because it offered the ability to reach a greater number of people, including those who may not have the means to seek midwifery care otherwise.
Misra appreciates being able to help her patients understand their health, learn about options for their care and participate in shared decision making. She loves getting to know people and making them comfortable and particularly enjoys working with teenagers and young adults, caring for people during pregnancy and birth and supporting families through life’s transitions. Her expertise includes contraception, including IUDs and Nexplanon, recurrent gynecology issues and options counseling.
Misra’s interests include meditation and spiritual growth as they relate to overall health and wellness. She practices kung fu and yoga and enjoys cooking, making art and being outdoors in her spare time.
