Dr. Pickering grew up in Arlington, Texas. He attended Brigham Young University in Utah for his undergraduate degree in business and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. He completed his OB/GYN training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Tennessee. During his training and career, Dr. Pickering has been honored for research and patient advocacy. He was on the teaching faculty at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and in private practice in Cedar Rapids for 11 years before moving to the Portland area in 2016. He is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology.
Dr. Pickering enjoys all aspects of obstetrics and being a part of such an important time in the lives of his patients. He also enjoys helping women understand the options they have for solving problems related to heavy and/or painful periods, fibroids, pelvic pain, contraception and other gynecology issues. He is a skilled minimally-invasive surgeon and is certified in the use of the da Vinci robot in gynecologic surgery.
In his spare time, Dr. Pickering enjoys hiking, classical music and reading. He is fluent in Spanish and is learning German.
