Julie grew up in North Carolina. She attended the College of Charleston in South Carolina for her bachelor’s degree in psychology and minor in women and gender studies. She received her master’s degree in social work at Columbia University in New York. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor, Level I.
Julie is inspired by people’s strength, resilience, and capacity to change. She views patients as experts in their own lives who may need support and guidance to achieve optimal health. She has worked with individuals who have experienced a diverse range of mental health issues, including mood and psychotic disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder. She also has extensive experience working with people who struggle with problems with substance use, ranging from active use to recovery. She is very interested in empowering patients to explore the impact of stress on their lives and find approachable ways to improve their overall wellness.
Julie is part of a cooperative program between Women’s Healthcare Associates and Lifeworks Northwest. She works onsite in our Peterkort South office to provide behavioral support to the patients of Women’s Healthcare Associates. When she’s not working, she enjoys exploring the Pacific Northwest with her dog, adventures in cooking, riding her bike, and dancing.
